The Maryland Interscholastic Athletic Association named Loyola Blakefield football player Carlos Spencer and Calvert Hall cross country runner Kaden Omopariola its Athletes of the Week for the week of Sept. 14-19, 2026. Spencer earned the honor after recording strong passing performances in wins over Georgetown Prep and St. Michael the Archangel, while Omopariola placed fourth at the Trinity/Valkyrie Invitational in Kentucky.
Carlos Spencer Earns Football Honor
Spencer threw for 415 yards and seven touchdowns in Loyola Blakefield’s 53-14 win over Georgetown Prep. He followed that performance by throwing for 270 yards and three touchdowns in a 42-28 win over St. Michael the Archangel.
Spencer also ran for 27 yards and scored a touchdown against St. Michael the Archangel. Those performances earned the Loyola Blakefield football player recognition from the Maryland Interscholastic Athletic Association.
Kaden Omopariola Recognized in Cross Country
Omopariola placed fourth for Calvert Hall at the Trinity/Valkyrie Invitational in Kentucky. He ran 15:06, a time the Maryland Interscholastic Athletic Association identified as the fastest in the state and among the top 10 all time.
That result earned Omopariola Athlete of the Week recognition alongside Spencer. The Maryland Interscholastic Athletic Association recognized both athletes for performances during the week of Sept. 14-19.
