Machado rehabbing with Keys has been missed by Orioles

479px-Manny_Machado_8-10-2012The Frederick Keys have just announced that Manny Machado will be participating in several games this weekend as part of his rehab. Machado will play on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday against both the Myrtle Beach Pelicans and Carolina Mud Cats. This is a great opportunity for Machado to receive some play time experience this season before returning to the Baltimore Orioles.

Machado has been sorely missed this season, especially in last night’s game against the Toronto Blue Jays, where both Matt Wieters and J.J. Hardy were not present in the lineup. Not only will Machado help with batting, but will supply necessary fielding experience and aid in lowering the amount of errors committed by the Orioles. Machado is predicted to return to the Orioles sometime next month after missing the first part of the season due to surgery to repair a torn patellofemoral ligament in his left knee.

Machado also has a history of performing extremely well with the Keys, hitting a homerun in his very first game he ever played with them. While playing for the Keys, Machado earned a .245 batting average, 12 doubles, five homeruns, and 58 hits. Similar numbers will be expected from him this weekend and he will hopefully assist the Keys in earning more wins this season.

Here is a tweet from the Keys announcing Manny Machado’s participation in this weekend’s games.
