Success at Loyola Maryland continues to extend far beyond the playing field.

The Patriot League announced its 2025-26 Winter and Spring Academic Honor Roll this week, and the Greyhounds once again ranked among the conference’s academic leaders. Loyola placed 257 student-athletes on the Winter and Spring Academic Honor Roll, reinforcing the university’s reputation for producing outstanding student-athletes who excel both in competition and in the classroom.

To earn Academic Honor Roll recognition, student-athletes must post at least a 3.20 grade-point average during the semester in which their Patriot League championship is contested.

Among the Patriot League’s Academic Leaders

Loyola averaged 20.35 Academic Honor Roll selections per Patriot League sport, the third-highest average in the conference behind only Bucknell and Lafayette. Even more impressive, the Greyhounds recorded the highest average among all Patriot League schools that do not sponsor football, continuing a tradition of academic excellence.

The achievement reflects the commitment of Loyola’s coaches, faculty, academic support staff, and student-athletes, who continue to balance demanding Division I schedules with rigorous classroom expectations.

Team Academic Success

Academic success was evident across every varsity program.

Every one of Loyola’s 18 varsity teams finished the academic year with both a semester and cumulative GPA above 3.20.

Several programs stood out:

  • Women’s Volleyball posted the department’s highest spring semester GPA at 3.74.
  • Women’s Swimming & Diving recorded the highest cumulative team GPA at 3.716.

Those numbers demonstrate the consistency of Loyola’s academic culture across its entire athletic department.

Dean’s List Recognition

The accomplishments extended well beyond the Patriot League Honor Roll.

Among Loyola student-athletes:

  • 62 percent earned Dean’s List recognition during the academic year.
  • 69 student-athletes earned a perfect 4.0 GPA during the spring semester.

Those figures underscore the university’s emphasis on developing complete student-athletes who strive for excellence in every aspect of college life.

The honor roll also featured standout student-athletes from nationally recognized programs such as women’s lacrosse, men’s lacrosse, rowing, swimming and diving, and track and field.

Patriot League Sets Another Record

Loyola’s success came during another record-setting academic year for the conference.

The Patriot League announced a record 4,152 Academic Honor Roll selections across the 2025-26 academic year, including 2,806 student-athletes honored during the winter and spring seasons alone.

Loyola accounted for 346 total Academic Honor Roll selections during the full academic year, including the 257 winter and spring honorees.

MSB Take

Championships and victories often dominate the headlines, but achievements like these deserve just as much recognition.

Loyola Maryland continues to prove that success in Division I athletics does not have to come at the expense of academic excellence. Placing 257 student-athletes on the Patriot League Winter and Spring Academic Honor Roll while producing Dean’s List students, perfect GPAs, and high team GPAs reflects the culture the Greyhounds have built.

For Maryland Sports Blog, this announcement serves as another reminder that some of the state’s greatest athletic accomplishments happen away from the scoreboard. Loyola continues to be one of the premier academic athletic departments in the Patriot League, and its student-athletes are setting the standard both in competition and in the classroom.
