Johns Hopkins University Athletics Men’s Water Polo Names Matthieu Giauque MPSF East/Delfina Player of the Week

Johns Hopkins men’s water polo sophomore Matthieu Giauque was named the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation East/Delfina Player of the Week after helping the Blue Jays to a 3-1 weekend. The honor is the first conference award of Giauque’s career.

Giauque recorded 10 goals, two assists, 16 drawn exclusions and three steals during the weekend. Johns Hopkins has now produced the conference player of the week nine times since joining the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation in 2025.

Matthieu Giauque Records Four-Game Weekend

Giauque tied his career high with five points against Mercyhurst, scoring three goals and adding two assists. He also drew a career-best six ejections and recorded two steals in the match.

Giauque scored three goals and drew four kickouts against Fresno Pacific. He added two goals and four drawn exclusions against George Washington before recording two goals, two drawn kickouts and one steal against Gannon.

Johns Hopkins Men’s Water Polo Returns Saturday

Johns Hopkins men’s water polo returns to action Saturday, Sept. 19, against George Washington at 1 p.m. The match is scheduled to serve as the Blue Jays’ home opener.

Giauque’s first conference honor follows a weekend in which he recorded goals, assists, drawn exclusions and steals across four matches. His performance also included a career-high-tying five points and a career-best six drawn ejections against Mercyhurst.
