Johns Hopkins University Athletics Men’s Cross Country Team Takes Second at Running of the Cows as Brady Ott Finishes Fourth

The Johns Hopkins men’s cross country team placed second among 35 teams at the Running of the Cows on Oct. 3, led by junior Brady Ott’s fourth-place finish among 337 runners. Johns Hopkins scored 123 points in Northfield, Minnesota, while Wartburg won with 110 points.

Johns Hopkins split its squad between the Running of the Cows, hosted by Carleton College, and the Don Cathcart Invitational, hosted by Salisbury University. Two Blue Jays finished inside the top 25 at the Don Cathcart Invitational, with Aakash Iyer placing eighth and Tate Duensing finishing 22nd.

Brady Ott Leads Johns Hopkins in Minnesota

Ott led three Johns Hopkins runners who finished inside the top 20 at the Running of the Cows. He placed fourth in 24:28.6, while Caleb Tenney followed in ninth at 24:42.6.

Cedar Nichols-Barnhart rounded out the Blue Jays’ top-20 finishers by placing 16th in 24:53.2. Freshman Elliott Stout finished 28th in 25:07.7 as the fastest freshman in the field, and freshman Connor Fanberg completed the scoring five in 67th place at 25:25.9. Fanberg was the fifth-fastest freshman in the field.

Johns Hopkins Records Two Top-25 Finishes at Salisbury

At the Don Cathcart Invitational, Iyer led Johns Hopkins with an eighth-place finish among 73 runners in 25:20.5. Duensing placed 22nd in 26:43.7 and was the fourth-fastest freshman in the field.

The Don Cathcart Invitational was hosted by Salisbury University.

Next Meet for Johns Hopkins Men’s Cross Country

Johns Hopkins is scheduled to compete next at the Aubrey Shenk Invitational at Gettysburg College on Oct. 17.

Johns Hopkins’ second-place finish at the Running of the Cows came from a complete team effort, with three runners inside the top 20 and five contributing to the team score. Ott, Tenney and Nichols-Barnhart led the Blue Jays’ finishers, while Stout and Fanberg completed the scoring group.

The split-squad competition also featured strong freshman results. Stout was the fastest freshman at the Running of the Cows, Fanberg ranked fifth among freshmen there, and Duensing was fourth among freshmen at the Don Cathcart Invitational.
