Salisbury University women’s field hockey defeated SUNY Morrisville, 7-1, on Oct. 4, 2026, at Drake Field in Morrisville, New York. Layla Kent scored two goals and added an assist as Salisbury built a 6-1 halftime lead to complete the victory.
Salisbury University Offense Dominates Early
Kent opened the scoring in the seventh minute with an assist from Elena Weychert before scoring again less than six minutes later. Makenna McKnight answered for SUNY Morrisville with an assist from Melissa Beaver, leaving Salisbury ahead 2-1 after the first quarter.
Salisbury added four goals in a 1:35 span during the second quarter. Alex Kupper scored with an assist from Kent, followed by goals from Ryan Lowe, Kelly Webber and Dakotah Trader, who received an assist from Webber.
Juliana Stepp scored Salisbury’s final goal at 41:54, with Ramsey Coffman recording the assist. Salisbury held SUNY Morrisville scoreless through the final two quarters.
Salisbury Controls Offensive Statistics
Salisbury finished with a 29-8 advantage in shots and held an 8-5 edge in penalty corners. The Sea Gulls also recorded 25 shots on goal, compared with six for SUNY Morrisville.
Kent led Salisbury with 10 shots and eight shots on goal in addition to her two goals and one assist. Maddie Castaneda made three saves in 41:54 before Kaitlin Cashman entered in the third quarter and made two saves.
