BALTIMORE — The success of the Johns Hopkins men’s tennis program extended far beyond the court during the 2025-26 academic year.

The Blue Jays were once again recognized by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) as an ITA All-Academic Team, while 14 Johns Hopkins student-athletes earned individual ITA Scholar-Athlete honors for their outstanding work in the classroom. The recognition highlights one of the nation’s premier Division III programs, which continues to combine championship-level tennis with elite academic achievement.

To qualify for ITA Scholar-Athlete recognition, student-athletes must post at least a 3.50 grade-point average during the academic year. Teams must finish with a cumulative 3.20 GPA or higher to receive ITA All-Academic Team honors. Johns Hopkins once again exceeded those standards while continuing its long tradition of academic excellence.

The following Johns Hopkins men’s tennis players received 2026 ITA Scholar-Athlete recognition:

Several members of the group are repeat honorees, demonstrating a sustained commitment to excellence both on the court and in the classroom.

Veterans Marco Azar, Pranav Gadiraju, and Allen Gong each earned their third career selection, further illustrating the academic culture that has become synonymous with Johns Hopkins men’s tennis.

A Program Built on Excellence

Johns Hopkins has long been recognized as one of the nation’s premier academic institutions, and its athletic department continues to reflect that reputation.

The Blue Jays have now produced 176 ITA Scholar-Athletes since 2007 and have recorded at least eight individual honorees every year since 2012. The program also extended its streak of earning ITA All-Academic Team honors to 15 consecutive seasons, a remarkable accomplishment that places it among the country’s elite collegiate tennis programs.

While academics remain a cornerstone of the program, Hopkins also enjoyed another successful season on the court, competing against one of the strongest Division III schedules in the nation while continuing to develop future leaders in engineering, computer science, neuroscience, economics, and other demanding fields.

Maryland Sports Blog Take

Winning matches is important, but the lasting impact of a college career is measured by what student-athletes accomplish after graduation.

Johns Hopkins continues to prove that elite academics and elite athletics can coexist. Producing 14 ITA Scholar-Athletes while extending a 15-year All-Academic Team streak is a testament to the culture established by the Blue Jays coaching staff and the commitment shown by every player in the program.

At Maryland Sports Blog, we celebrate championships, but we also recognize achievements that prepare student-athletes for success long after their playing careers end. Johns Hopkins men’s tennis continues to set that standard.
