Meredith College Takes Early Lead
Meredith College opened the scoring at 11:17 of the first quarter when Marissa Tilgner found the net. Goucher responded at 16:47 of the second quarter, when Sienna Karas scored her first collegiate goal on an assist from Madison Usher.
Sophia Frez scored for Meredith College at 23:58, giving the home team a 2-1 lead at halftime. Megan Ingenito and Charlotte Dyer added third-quarter goals at 32:34 and 37:04, respectively, to put Meredith College ahead 4-1.
Goucher Field Hockey Rallies in Second Half
Vivian Onunga scored at 43:17 to bring Goucher within two goals. Onunga led Goucher with five shots, while Usher scored at 46:04 to make it a 4-3 game early in the fourth quarter.
Meredith College answered at 55:34 when Dyer scored her second goal of the game. The goal completed the 5-3 final score and secured the victory for Meredith College.
Meredith College Holds Statistical Edge
Meredith College outshot Goucher 27-8 and recorded a 20-5 advantage in shots on goal. The structured team statistics listed Goucher with 14 saves and Meredith College with two saves.
