Frostburg State University Bobcats’ Ray Adames Named Mountain East Conference Football Special Teams Player of the Week

Frostburg State University Bobcats junior wide receiver Ray Adames was named the Mountain East Conference Football Special Teams Player of the Week on Sept. 14, 2026. The honor followed his key performance in Frostburg State’s 24-19 victory over Assumption on Sept. 12.

Adames Blocks Punt, Recovers for Touchdown Setup

With Frostburg State leading 17-13 late in the third quarter, Adames broke through to block an Assumption punt. He recovered the ball at the three-yard line, setting up a touchdown that extended the Bobcats’ lead to 24-13.

In addition to his special teams impact, Adames excelled as a wide receiver during the victory. He made five catches for 111 yards, including a 77-yard touchdown reception.

Mountain East Conference Weekly Football Awards

The Mountain East Conference announced its weekly football award winners on Sept. 14. Presented by The Health Plan, the Special Teams Player of the Week honor was awarded to Adames.
