Edmondson Caps Historic Maryland Career
Edmondson leaves College Park as one of the greatest midfielders in Maryland women’s lacrosse history.
The former No. 1 recruit in the nation stayed home to play for the Terrapins and rewarded the program with one of the most decorated careers ever by a Maryland player. She finished her career with:

- 187 goals (tied for 12th in program history)
- 26th all-time in career points
- Four-time All-Big Ten selection
- One of only three Terrapins ever to earn four All-Big Ten honors
Edmondson’s impact extended far beyond the statistics. She developed into one of the nation’s most complete midfielders, excelling as a scorer, draw specialist, defender and transition player while helping Maryland remain among the country’s elite programs.
Her rise has continued professionally after being selected fourth overall in the inaugural Women’s Lacrosse League Draft. She also helped Team USA capture the 2025 Pan-American Championship before earning her place on the World Championship roster.
Walker-Weinstein Returns to the World Stage
Leading Team USA will be another familiar Maryland name.
Acacia Walker-Weinstein, one of the greatest players in Terrapins history, serves as head coach of the United States Women’s Senior National Team after being appointed in 2024.
Walker-Weinstein enjoyed an outstanding collegiate career at Maryland as an All-American and team captain, helping guide the Terrapins to four consecutive NCAA Tournament appearances. She later spent a decade with the U.S. National Team, winning two world championships as a player before transitioning into coaching.
Her appointment continues Maryland’s long-standing influence on international lacrosse, with former Terps consistently filling leadership positions throughout the sport.
Team USA Chasing History
The United States enters the tournament as the overwhelming favorite and is looking to make history.
Team USA has won the last four Women’s World Lacrosse Championships (2009, 2013, 2017 and 2022) and now has the opportunity to capture an unprecedented fifth straight world title. The Americans have not lost a world championship since Australia claimed the championship in Annapolis, Maryland, in 2005.
The Americans open pool play against Ireland before facing the Haudenosaunee Nationals and Chinese Taipei. If all goes according to plan, Team USA will advance into the knockout rounds before competing for another gold medal on Aug. 2.
