The Fredericksburg Nationals defeated the Wilson Warbirds 11-9 on July 31, 2026, in Wilson, North Carolina, behind Coy James’ team-leading 15th home run of the season and three RBIs. The victory gave the Nationals consecutive wins after dropping the first two games of the series.
Coy James Gives Fredericksburg Early Lead
Luke Dickerson opened the game with a leadoff double before Coy James followed with a two-run home run in the first inning. Alexander Frias responded with an RBI triple for the Wilson Warbirds, but the Nationals extended their lead in the second inning.
Brady Cerkownyk started the second inning with a single, and Fredericksburg loaded the bases after back-to-back walks. James then produced his third RBI of the game with a sacrifice fly. Jordan Williams added an RBI triple in the third inning to put Fredericksburg ahead 4-1.
Wilson Warbirds Respond in Third Inning
The Warbirds erased the deficit in the bottom of the third inning. Handlefry Encarnacion led off with a single, and Brady Ebel followed with a two-run home run to make the score 4-3. Wilson added two more runs against Fredericksburg starter Marlon De La Cruz before the inning ended, taking a 5-4 lead.
After a couple of scoreless innings, the Nationals regained control with five runs in the top of the sixth.
Fredericksburg Nationals Hold Off Late Challenge
Cerkownyk led off the sixth inning with a walk before the Nationals put together six hits in a row. The inning included a two-RBI double by Gavin Fien, a two-RBI single by Hunter Hines and an RBI single by Juan Cruz, moving Fredericksburg ahead 9-5.
Jose Anderson hit a two-RBI single in the bottom of the seventh inning to bring the Warbirds within two runs at 9-7. Gavin Fien responded with a home run in the top of the eighth inning to restore a four-run lead at 11-7. The Warbirds scored twice in the bottom of the eighth on a single by Brailyn Antunez, but the Nationals held on for the 11-9 victory. The teams combined for 25 hits and 19 walks.
