The Fredericksburg Nationals, the Carolina League affiliate of the Washington Nationals, announced Sept. 23, 2026, that Matthew Ramstead will be their new general manager. Ramstead joins the Fredericksburg organization after eight seasons with the Lynchburg Hillcats and Hill City Howlers, where he has served as general manager since 2021.
Lincoln Evans will join Ramstead in Fredericksburg as assistant general manager. Evans spent five years with the Lynchburg Hillcats and Hill City Howlers and most recently served as assistant general manager.
Matthew Ramstead Brings Minor League Baseball Experience
Ramstead has more than a decade of Minor League Baseball experience across marketing, food and beverage, sales, community engagement and team operations. He began his professional sports career at the University of Idaho in 2014 before entering Minor League Baseball with the Helena Brewers in 2016.
Ramstead is a graduate of Lewis-Clark State College with a degree in Sports Administration. Lynchburg Business Magazine recognized him in 2024 as one of its Top 20 Under 40 honorees.

Lincoln Evans Joins Fredericksburg Front Office
Evans held roles in marketing, community relations and group sales during his five years with the Lynchburg Hillcats and Hill City Howlers. He most recently served as assistant general manager before joining the Fredericksburg Nationals.
“Lincoln has been an important part of the Lynchburg organization and has continued to grow throughout his time with the club,” said Ramstead. “Im excited to have him alongside me in Fredericksburg and know that hell be a great addition to the team.”

Virginia Credit Union Stadium to Host 2026 Exhibition
The Fredericksburg Nationals play their home games at Virginia Credit Union Stadium in Fredericksburg, Virginia. The stadium will host a fall exhibition game between the UVA and Virginia Tech baseball programs on Saturday, Oct. 3, 2026.
