Fredericksburg Nationals Lose 4-2 to Fayetteville in North Division Championship Game 1

The Fredericksburg Nationals lost 4-2 to the Fayetteville Woodpeckers in Game 1 of the North Division Championship series after Fayetteville rallied in the bottom of the seventh inning in Fayetteville, N.C.

Fredericksburg Nationals Build Early Lead

Dashyll Tejeda put the Fredericksburg Nationals on the scoreboard with an RBI groundout in the top of the second inning. Jordan Williams followed with an RBI double that scored Cashel Dugger and extended the lead to 2-0.

Kam Durnin brought Fayetteville onto the scoreboard with an RBI single in the bottom of the third inning, scoring Rashawn Galloway. Galloway tied the game with an RBI single in the bottom of the seventh.

Fayetteville Woodpeckers Rally Late

During the seventh-inning rally, a misplay by Fredericksburg right fielder Gavin Fien allowed Arturo Flores to score and gave the Fayetteville Woodpeckers the lead. Fayetteville added another run on a sacrifice fly in the eighth inning.

Charlie Weber and Brandon Cassedy combined to retire 12 consecutive batters over the final four innings. The Fredericksburg Nationals managed just three batters in five of the final six innings.

Game 2 Information

The Fredericksburg Nationals will play Game 2 on Thursday at 6:35 p.m. at Virginia Credit Union Stadium. Right-hander Landon Harmon is scheduled to start for Fredericksburg against Fayetteville right-hander Jagger Beck.
