The Fredericksburg Nationals allowed two runs in the bottom of the eighth inning, falling 4-2 to the Delmarva Shorebirds on Aug. 28, 2026, in Salisbury, Maryland. This was the Nationals’ first loss of the series and the team’s 50th loss of the season. The Nationals remained 23 games above .500.
Delmarva Ends Fredericksburg’s Scoreless Streak
Delmarva scored in the bottom of the first inning, ending Fredericksburg’s streak of 25 consecutive scoreless innings. Jhomnardo Reyes opened the inning with a walk and advanced to second on a throwing error by Fredericksburg pitcher Landon Harmon. Carlos Sanchez followed with a sacrifice fly that scored Reyes and gave the Shorebirds a 1-0 lead.
Harmon completed four innings while allowing one hit, four walks, one unearned run and striking out four batters. His four walks were a career high. Harmon also struck out the final two batters he faced with a runner in scoring position.
Fredericksburg Takes a 2-1 Lead
The Fredericksburg offense came to life in the top of the fifth inning. Jamison Jones worked a leadoff walk and scored the tying run on an RBI double by Avery Ortiz. Ortiz then scored on Manny Cabrera’s sacrifice fly, giving the Nationals a 2-1 lead.
Delmarva tied the game on a wild pitch in the bottom of the seventh inning. The Shorebirds took the lead one inning later after Boucher allowed a leadoff single and a walk. Zach Konstantinovsky entered with both runners inherited, and both scored as Delmarva moved ahead 4-2.
Nationals Leave Tying Runs on Base
Fredericksburg put the tying run on base in the ninth inning but could not complete the comeback. The Nationals stranded runners on first and second as the Shorebirds secured the 4-2 victory.
Fredericksburg was scheduled to pursue the series win the following day at Perdue Stadium. Marlon De La Cruz was scheduled to start for the Nationals against Collin McKinney of Delmarva, with first pitch scheduled for 7:05 p.m.

Fredericksburg rallied from an early deficit to take a 2-1 lead, but Delmarva’s late scoring decided the game. The Shorebirds ended the Nationals’ 25-inning scoreless streak in the first inning before scoring twice in the eighth to hand Fredericksburg its first loss of the series.
