Ex-Terp Outfielder White Pitches in Minor League Game
Charlie White did several great things during his time at the University of Maryland. He was solid both in center field and at the plate, and he stole the most bases in school history. However, he was not a pitcher, which made the scene in Boise quite odd on Friday.
White picked up the win and pitched three innings for the Cubs A-affiliate, the Boise Hawks. He also struck out four batters.
Oddities are not that uncommon in minor league baseball games. Sometimes, games go extremely long, or teams score many runs. However, it is always rare to see a position player pitching, and it is even more rare to see one have success.
White must be channeling his inner Chris Davis.
