The Delmarva Shorebirds lost to the Fredericksburg Nationals 5-4 in 10 innings Wednesday, Aug. 5, 2026, in Fredericksburg, Virginia. Zac Lampton committed a balk with runners on the corners and one out in the bottom of the 10th inning, allowing Fredericksburg’s winning run to score.

Shorebirds Rally After Falling Behind

Fredericksburg Wins on 10th-Inning Balk
The score remained tied through the end of regulation. Adrian Heredia helped keep Delmarva in the game with a season-high four innings in relief, allowing one run on three hits.
Delmarva stranded two runners and did not score in the top of the 10th inning. Fredericksburg then put runners on the corners with one out in the bottom half of the inning.
With Coy James batting, Lampton committed the balk that allowed the winning run to score. Gus Hughes earned the win for Fredericksburg, while Lampton took the loss for Delmarva.
