Stiven Martinez delivered the Delmarva Shorebirds biggest hit, launching a 421-foot home run to center field in the third inning. The home run marked Martinez’s second consecutive game with a home run and extended the Shorebirds lead to four runs.
Delmarva Shorebirds Build Early Lead
Eric Booth Jr. opened the scoring in the first inning with a sacrifice fly that brought home Ty Head. Head led off the inning with a triple before Booth’s fly ball gave Delmarva a 1-0 advantage.
Booth added another RBI in the third inning with a run-scoring groundout that scored Fe9lix Amparo. Martinez followed one batter later with his home run to center field, putting the Shorebirds ahead 4-0.
Fredericksburg Nationals Rally in Extra Innings
The Fredericksburg Nationals began their comeback in the fourth inning. Kevin Made hit a two-run double, and Avery Ortiz added an RBI double as Fredericksburg cut Delmarva lead to 4-3.
Dashyll Tejeda tied the game at 4-4 with a solo home run in the ninth inning. Fredericksburg then took its first lead in the top of the 10th when pinch-hitter Manuel Cabrera delivered an RBI single for a 5-4 advantage.
Delmarva loaded the bases with nobody out in the bottom of the 10th inning but did not score. Adam Boucher struck out two batters, and Jimmy Anderson lined out to center field to end the game.
Pitching Decisions and Next Game
Zack Konstantinovsky earned the win in his professional debut for Fredericksburg. Javier Gonze1lez took the loss for Delmarva while Boucher recorded the final three outs of the 10th inning for the save.
The Delmarva Shorebirds entered the game with a 42-79 overall record and a 19-36 record in the applicable split. The Fredericksburg Nationals entered with a 71-49 overall record and a 25-29 record in the applicable split.
The Shorebirds are scheduled to continue their homestand Wednesday at 7:05 p.m., with Harrison Kreiling set to pitch against Fredericksburg’s Juan Reyes.
