D.C. United Brings Five-Match Unbeaten Run

D.C. United enters the DMV Derby after a 2-2 draw with Nashville SC at Audi Field on Saturday. The club erased a two-goal halftime deficit, with defender Silvan Hefti scoring his first career MLS goal in the 56th minute and forward Tai Baribo equalizing in the 77th minute.

Baribo’s goal was his team-leading 11th of the season and his fourth in four consecutive matches. The draw moved D.C. United to 5-5-8 with 23 points and extended its unbeaten run to five matches. Head coach René Weiler’s team has taken points in 10 of its last 11 matches.

Loudoun United FC Arrives With Consecutive Shutouts

Loudoun United FC enters Audi Field after winning back-to-back matches while keeping clean sheets in both contests. Head coach Anthony Limbrick’s team defeated Indy Eleven 1-0 on July 25, then beat Hartford Athletic 2-0 on Saturday.

Goalkeeper Ethan Bandré made nine saves in the victory over Indy Eleven. Attacking midfielder Abdellatif Aboukoura scored in both wins, while forward Thor Úlfarsson added the second goal against Hartford Athletic. Aboukoura was the 2025 USL Championship Young Player of the Year.

Founded in 2018, Loudoun United FC is identified in the source as the highest-level men’s professional soccer club in Virginia. The club reached the USL Championship playoffs for the first time in club history in 2025, finishing sixth in the Eastern Conference with 42 points.

DMV Connections Shape First Meeting

The clubs share several player connections across the region. Loudoun United FC’s roster features midfielder Pedro Santos, who made 51 appearances for D.C. United from 2023 to 2024.

Midfielder Richie Aman was D.C. United’s eighth overall selection in the 2026 MLS SuperDraft and is on loan to Loudoun United FC through the end of the 2026 MLS season. Aman has been on loan to Loudoun since March 4, scored his first USL Championship goal in a 2-2 draw with Oakland Roots SC and struck the post in Loudoun’s win over Hartford Athletic.

Former D.C. United Homegrowns Jackson Hopkins and Gavin Turner have also played for Loudoun United FC. Those connections add local context to a match that will mark the first meeting between D.C. United and Loudoun United FC in this setting.
