Capitals sign forward Nic Dowd

The Washington Capitals have signed forward Nic Dowd to a one-year $650,000 a annual contract.  Dowd has nine career NHL goals and will likely have to earn his spot on the Capitals.

Dowd is 28 years old from Alabama.   Dowd has five career hockey fights.  Dowd was a former seventh round draft pick of the Los Angeles Kings.  Dowd most recently played for the Vancouver Canucks.

I think Dowd will find his was on the Hershey Bears for the majority of the season.
