ARLINGTON, Va. – The Washington Capitals have officially announced their 2026-27 NHL regular season schedule, opening the campaign on the road against the defending Stanley Cup champion Carolina Hurricanes. The 82-game schedule includes multiple lengthy homestands, significant road trips, and several high-profile matchups at Capital One Arena in downtown Washington, D.C.

The National Hockey League released the full schedule on July 16, 2026. The Washington Capitals begin with back-to-back road games: Friday, October 2 at 7 p.m. ET versus the Carolina Hurricanes, followed by Saturday, October 3 at 7 p.m. against the Tampa Bay Lightning. The home opener is scheduled for Wednesday, October 7 at 7:30 p.m. as the Capitals host their Metropolitan Division rivals, the Pittsburgh Penguins.
