Breaking News: Jimenez Goes to the Bullpen

Ubaldo Jimenez Ubaldo Jimenez is headed to the Orioles’ bullpen. The team announced the move three days after Jimenez’s last performance.

The move shouldn’t come as a surprise to fans and media after Jimenez failed to go deep into the ball game during his last start. Manager Buck Showalter was questioned after Jimenez’s start Saturday about what he would do regarding the rotation but wouldn’t give an answer.

In Jimenez’s last start against the Indians, his former team, he gave up five hits, six runs and walked three batters in just 4.1 innings pitched. He threw 110 pitches and took the loss.

Jimenez has been inconsistent all season after signing a four year, $50 million contract this offseason. His record is 4-9 and has an ERA of 4.83.

“Hopefully we can get him back to pitching like he has at times this year,” Showalter said of the move.
A corresponding move will most likely be coming tomorrow to bring Miguel Gonzalez back up to the Orioles. The team also announced that Gonzalez will start Sunday which will push Chris Tilman’s start to Monday.
