Braves Complete Four-Game Sweep, Defeat Nationals 4-2
The Atlanta Braves finished off a dominant four-game series against the Washington Nationals with a 4-2 victory on Sunday afternoon at Truist Park. Powered by timely home runs, clutch relief pitching, and another solid all-around performance, Atlanta completed the sweep while handing Washington its fifth consecutive loss.
The Nationals struck first and briefly held the lead early. James Wood continued his impressive season by driving in a run, and Washington added another on a sacrifice fly to move ahead 2-1. However, Atlanta quickly answered and never looked back.
Matt Olson tied the game with a solo home run, his 31st of the season, before Mike Yastrzemski delivered another big swing with a homer of his own. Yastrzemski finished with two RBIs, while Austin Riley added a key RBI double during Atlanta’s decisive rally. Dylan Dodd, Didier Fuentes, Dylan Lee, and closer Raisel Iglesias combined for five innings of effective relief, limiting Washington to little offense the rest of the afternoon. Iglesias recorded his 24th save of the season to close out the victory.

The game’s biggest moment came in the fourth inning when Olson’s game-tying homer shifted the momentum. Atlanta followed with another run during the inning before adding insurance later on Yastrzemski’s sacrifice fly. From that point forward, the Braves’ bullpen shut the door.
