Bradish Goes 3.1 Innings in Norfolk Rehab Start

Baltimore Orioles starting pitcher Kyle Bradish pitched in his first rehabilitation game with their AAA affiliate, the Norfolk Tides on April 21st. The Tides played the Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp, who are a AAA affiliate of the Miami Marlins, and fell to them in the 6th game of the series, 8-4.

Bradish suffered a right UCL sprain in February of this year, and started his rehab assignment last week. He quickly moved through the high-A Orioles’ affiliate, the Aberdeen IronBirds, as well as the AA affiliate, the Bowie Baysox, before arriving in Norfolk.

Bradish pitched 3.1 innings and faced 20 batters, striking out 4 of them. He gave up 6 hits and 4 runs, bringing his ERA with the Tides to 5.68. The Jumbo Shrimps hit at an average of .375 against Bradish with a WHIP (walks and hits per inning pitched) of 2.70. Bradish pitched 67 pitches, with 37 of them being strikes.

Although Bradish didn’t make it through the full game and the Tides couldn’t come up with a win, it’s promising to see him make his way through his rehab assignment and work to make his way back to the Orioles. The Tides return home on Tuesday, April 23rd, where they’ll face the Gwinnett Stripers.
