Baltimore Ravens Vs Detroit Lions: Who’ll Win Monday’s Match Up

Dennis PittaBy: Taylor Green

The Baltimore Ravens are on a three-game winning streak and it seems that it will extend to four come Monday night as they face the Detroit Lions at Ford Field. The Ravens are the heavy favorites as they’ve shown precise playmaking and superb team work in the last three games that they’ve played.

Plus, they’re coming off a huge win against a competent Minnesota Vikings team; as such, the momentum is still on their side. Putting the aforementioned factors into consideration, it can be said that Monday Night Football will be exciting and say, vicious down the stretches.

Why the Baltimore Ravens are heavy favorites?

Thanks to their close win against the Vikings, the Ravens above the .500 mark in the standings. Because of that, the Ravens are now in 6th place in the playoff picture. This is a welcome development, considering the fact that the team was down 3-5 a couple of weeks ago.

As a team, the Ravens are 29th in total offense, 9th in overall defense, and 8th when it comes to defending the run. These statistics may not haunt them on Monday as the Lions’ Reggie Bush is dealing with a calf injury and may not play on that game as he’s listed as day-to-day.

What the Baltimore Ravens should do to guarantee a win?

Even though the Ravens are heavy favorites, the Lions can still pull an upset because of their x-factor: Calvin Johnson. Heralded as one of the most exceptional wide receivers in the game today, Johnson poses a threat to stop the Ravens’ winning run. Yes, the team can pretty much defend the run, but stopping Johnson can be quite a challenge. Therefore, the Ravens should exert more effort to shut-down the 6-5, 236 lb warrior.

In addition to the said strategy, the Ravens should also control the Lions’ ever-effective Quarterback, Matthew Stafford. This can be quite a challenge as well since the Ravens were without Elvis Dumervil in their last few games and his absence can be detrimental in the defensive end. Baltimore needs to make sure that they’ll slow down Stafford and limit his crisp passing attack.

Summary

The Odds Shark computer and many mobile spreads providers are pushing for a Detroit Lions victory, but many sports analyst declare otherwise.

Yes, the Lions are talented and feisty, but they’ve also lost three of their last four matches. On the other hand, the Baltimore Ravens are on a three-game winning streak. For this reason, it would be best to go with the “hot” team in Baltimore.
