Baltimore Ravens Day-Two Draft Recap

Day two of the NFL draft concluded on Friday night with the Ravens selecting two players, one in the second round, and one in the third round.

With their 62nd pick in the second round the Ravens selected Washington offensive tackle Roger Rosengarten. Rosengarten who is 6’5″ and 308 Ibs, was a standout right tackle for the Huskies and helped to protect the blind side for the left handed Michael Penix Jr.

Rosengarten started in played in every game in 2022 and 2023 and was awarded the Joe Moore Award in 2023, which is given to the nations top offensive lineman. The most impressive stat of Rosengarten’s career at Washington is he allowed no sacks in career which totaled 1,158 snaps, while helping the Huskies to a national championship appearance last season.

Rosengarten is an aggressive blocker that also posses the ability to play guard as well as the left tackle position, but will need to improve against elite level pass rushers in the NFL and keeping his hands inside consistently to avoid holding penalties.

With the Ravens 93rd overall pick in the third round the Ravens selected Penn State outside linebacker Adisa Isaac. Standing at 6’4″ and 247 Ibs, Issac is a raw prospect for the Ravens, similar to that of another Ravens outside linebacker Odafe Oweh, also from Penn State. In contrast to Oweh however is Issac did not test particularly well at the NFL combine running a 4.74, 40-yard dash, but had major production while at Penn State.

In four seasons in Happy Valley Issac accumulated 92 career tackles, 31.5 tackles for loss, 14.5 sacks, and two forced fumbles. 2023 was Issac’s most productive season amassing 7.5 total sacks on his way to being named First-Team All Big 10, while also being named Penn State’s Defensive MVP.

Issac is a long rangy outside linebacker that shows terrific effort and has effective pass rush moves that could make him into a good situational pass rusher. Issac will need to add some strength specifically in his lower body while also improving his ability to play in the run game and remain disciplined in setting the edge.

The Ravens in typical fashion have stayed true to their board filling specific needs through the first three rounds, while simultaneously picking the best players available at those spots at the time of their picks. Rosengarten is a plug and play offensive lineman that could be a day one starter.

While Issac could fill a nice void at the outside linebacker position left by Jadeveon Clowney. The Ravens return three players at the outside linebacker position in Odafe Oweh, David Ojabo, and Tavius Robinson, all who have yet to show much production. As well as a 33-year old Kyle Van Noy, who the Ravens hope can replicate his nine sacks from 2023.

The NFL draft wraps up Saturday with rounds four through seven. The Ravens have six picks remaining with two picks in the fourth and seventh rounds, and one in both the fifth and sixth rounds. The Ravens are still looking to take a wide receiver at some point in this years draft with plenty of talent still available. The Ravens will likely also look toward drafting another offensive lineman, specifically a guard as they look to continue to bolster their offensive line that was in desperate need of a rebuild.
