Baltimore Ravens cut Foxworth

The Baltimore Ravens have announced by a press release that they have terminated the contract of cornerback Domonique Foxworth.  Foxworth suffered a torn ACL during the first day of training camp in 2010 and has not been the same since.  I have talked to Foxworth several times and was at his press conference after he injured his knee.  Foxworth is a Baltimore native and was very disappointed that he was not able to help his hometown team the past two seasons.

Here is the press release from the Baltimore Ravens.

The Baltimore Ravens have terminated vested veteran (failed physical) CB Domonique Foxworth Monday afternoon, executive vice president/general manager Ozzie Newsome announced.

In three seasons with the Ravens, Foxworth appeared in 18 games (16 starts), posting 64 tackles (52 solo), four interceptions, 21 passes defensed and one fumble recovery. He played in two contests last season before being placed on Injured Reserve with a knee injury. The seven-year veteran spent all of 2010 on Injured Reserve after suffering a knee injury on the first day of training camp in a non-contact practice.

The 5-11, 180-pound cornerback also spent time with Atlanta (2008) and Denver (2005-07). A Baltimore native, Foxworth was drafted by the Broncos in the third round (97th overall) of the 2005 NFL Draft.

“We appreciate all Domonique did for us the past three years, both with his play and his important leadership off the field,” Newsome stated. “This does not preclude us from bringing back Domonique at a later date.”
