St. Mary’s College of Maryland Women’s Volleyball Sweeps Penn State Berks as Vlada Costenco Records 10 Kills

St. Mary’s College of Maryland women’s volleyball swept Penn State Berks, 3-0, on Oct. 6 at the Beaver Athletics & Wellness Center in Reading, Pa. The Seahawks won by set scores of 25-16, 25-16 and 25-15 in United East Conference play, improving to 12-5 overall and 3-0 in conference competition.

St. Mary’s College of Maryland took the opening two sets by identical scores before closing the match with a 25-15 third-set victory. The sweep marked another United East win for the Seahawks, who did not allow Penn State Berks to gain an advantage after the opening set.

Vlada Costenco Leads St. Mary’s College of Maryland

Vlada Costenco led the Seahawks with 10 kills while hitting .381. Julia Bobrowski added six kills and 10 digs, while Faith Shockley and Stella Marrero each contributed four kills.

Shockley also recorded three block assists, and Sanaa Porter finished with two kills and three block assists. Camilla Galeano directed the offense with 18 assists while adding eight digs and three service aces.

Seahawks Finish With 51 Digs

Elizabeth Childs led St. Mary’s College of Maryland with 14 digs, while Bobrowski followed with 10. The Seahawks finished with nine service aces and 51 digs as a team.

St. Mary’s College of Maryland will travel to Wilson College on Saturday, Oct. 10, for another United East Conference matchup.
