Mount St. Mary’s University men’s tennis sends four players to ITA Atlantic Regionals while rest competes at Navy Invitational

Mount St. Mary’s University men’s tennis will divide its players between the ITA Atlantic Regionals in Blacksburg, Virginia, and the Navy Invitational in Annapolis, Maryland. Four athletes — Stefanos Pournaropoulos, Alexi Roy, Nick Makris and Sergei Likhogrud — will compete at the regional tournament from Thursday, October 8, through Sunday, October 11. The rest of the team will play in the Navy Invitational from Friday, October 9, through Sunday, October 11.

Four athletes headed to Blacksburg

The ITA Atlantic Regionals will take place at the Burrows-Burleson Tennis Center and will be hosted by Virginia Tech. Pournaropoulos, Roy, Makris and Likhogrud will represent Mount St. Mary’s at the event.

Pournaropoulos enters the tournament after winning the Metro Masters the previous weekend. Mount St. Mary’s also reported that its men’s tennis team has won all of its invitational matches to start the year and remains undefeated in invitational doubles match play.

Mount St. Mary’s joins Navy Invitational field

The rest of Mount St. Mary’s men’s tennis will compete in the Navy Invitational in Annapolis. The field includes Mount St. Mary’s, Howard, Navy, Loyola and Lehigh.

Morgan State Invitational follows

Mount St. Mary’s will next compete in the Morgan State Invitational in Baltimore, Maryland, on Saturday, October 24, and Sunday, October 25. The announcement did not include matchups or start times.
