The Washington College Shorewomen fell 1-0 to St. Mary’s College of Maryland in a non-conference women’s field hockey contest on September 23, 2026, at Kibler Field at Roy Kirby Jr. Stadium in Chestertown, Maryland. Josephine Mascolo scored the decisive goal with 7.2 seconds remaining in the second quarter, lifting St. Mary’s College of Maryland to a 3-3 record and dropping Washington College to 2-5.

Tyler Rice and Tara Radebaugh recorded shots on goal in the opening quarter, with Natalie Watkinson also attempting a shot. Watkinson, Radebaugh and Erin Houlihan added second-quarter shots before Mascolo’s late penalty-corner goal.
The Shorewomen recorded three shots on goal and six penalty corners in the third quarter. Watkinson had a chance with six seconds remaining in the period, but St. Mary’s turned away the attempt.
Washington College Defends Against Late St. Mary’s Pressure
Washington College earned six penalty corners during the opening 8:37 of the fourth quarter. Watkinson and Maris LaPerle recorded shots, with LaPerle’s attempt saved and Watkinson’s blocked.
Ashley Swan made a defensive save with 5:39 remaining to prevent St. Mary’s from extending its lead. Charlotte Schurman made four saves for Washington College, which was unable to score before the final whistle.
Washington College Opens Centennial Conference Schedule
The Shorewomen are scheduled to return to action Saturday, September 26, at 1 p.m. against Gettysburg College in their Centennial Conference opener at Washington College.
