The Baltimore Orioles named Frederick Keys shortstop Wehiwa Aloy and left-handed pitcher Joseph Dzierwa as their 2026 Brooks Robinson Minor League Player of the Year and Jim Palmer Pitcher of the Year, respectively, on Sept. 21, 2026. Frederick Keys manager Collin Woody also received the Orioles’ 2026 Cal Ripken, Sr. Player Development Award.
Three members of the 2026 Frederick Keys roster received postseason awards after the team won a franchise-best 83 regular-season games. The Keys secured both the first- and second-half South Atlantic League North Division titles and qualified for the postseason for the first time since 2017.
Wehiwa Aloy Earns Brooks Robinson Award
Aloy began the season with High-A Frederick and served as the Keys’ primary shortstop before his promotion to Double-A Chesapeake on July 28. He batted .300 with 15 home runs, 69 RBIs, 14 doubles and four triples in 84 games with Frederick.
After joining Chesapeake, Aloy hit 10 home runs and recorded 23 RBIs in 39 games while batting .261. He finished the 2026 season with a .288 batting average across 123 games.
Joseph Dzierwa Receives Jim Palmer Honor
Dzierwa began the season with Frederick and spent most of the year with Double-A Chesapeake. The left-handed pitcher, the No. 58 overall pick in the 2025 draft, went 5-1 with a 2.21 ERA, 50 strikeouts, 10 walks and a 0.81 WHIP across 40.2 innings with Frederick.
Dzierwa was promoted to Double-A on May 19. With Chesapeake, he pitched 90.1 innings and recorded 99 strikeouts with a 2.29 ERA, including a 1.52 ERA across five appearances in July when he allowed four earned runs in 23.2 innings.
Collin Woody Receives Player Development Award
Woody received the Cal Ripken, Sr. Player Development Award shortly after being named South Atlantic League Manager of the Year. The award is given annually to a Baltimore Orioles staff member who exemplifies Cal Ripken Sr.’s qualities as an instructor.
Woody led the Frederick Keys to their franchise-record 83 regular-season wins while developing players including Ike Irish, a 2025 Orioles first-round draft pick and outfielder, and Boston Bateman, the Orioles’ No. 11 prospect and a left-handed pitcher.
Frederick Keys Set 2027 Opening Date
The Frederick Keys are scheduled to begin the 2027 season Friday, April 2, by hosting the Brooklyn Cyclones. Game times and ticket information will be released later.
