Washington College Shoremen Play to 0-0 Draw at Penn State Abington Behind Hannes Budde’s Three Saves

The Washington College Shoremen played to a 0-0 draw Wednesday at Memorial Field in Abington, Pa., against Penn State Abington. Hannes Budde played all 90 minutes, made three saves and recorded a clean sheet in the non-conference men’s soccer match.

The result moved Washington College to 1-1-4 on the season, while Penn State Abington moved to 0-4-2. The teams were tied 0-0 at halftime and remained scoreless through the final whistle.

Washington College Shoremen Create Opportunities

Simone Perin and Wilken Bauer each recorded shots on goal during the opening half, while Washington College earned three corner kicks. Tucker Sprano added a shot that went high of the goal.

Budde made a save on a low Penn State Abington shot at 31:27 to keep the match scoreless. He stopped another low shot at 50:59 before Evan Souder put a shot on goal that was saved.

Samuel Knauf and Tshazi Kamau also recorded shot attempts for Washington College. Sprano added a shot on goal at 81:11, and Budde made his third save with just over a minute remaining.

Shoremen Set for Centennial Conference Opener

Washington College finished with nine shots and three corner kicks. The Shoremen recorded four shots on goal compared with three for Penn State Abington.

Washington College will visit McDaniel College in Westminster, Maryland, at 3 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 19, for its Centennial Conference opener.
