Washington College Women’s Soccer Gets First Career Goal From Danica Ross in 2-0 Win Over Hood

Washington College women’s soccer defeated Hood, 2-0, Saturday at Thomas Athletic Field in Frederick, Maryland, as Danica Ross scored her first career goal in the non-conference victory. Washington College scored both goals in the first half and improved to 3-2-0, while Hood fell to 1-3-0.

Danica Ross Opens Scoring for Washington College

Ross put Washington College ahead at 10:36 with a shot from 25 yards out into the upper-left corner. Ross scored after Washington College intercepted a Hood clearing attempt, making it the game-winning goal.

Sophie Kilbride added the second goal with 3:12 remaining before halftime. Ashleigh Peace assisted on the play, finding Kilbride near the top of the box before Kilbride finished from 10 yards.

Rylee Louden Preserves Shutout

Hood recorded one shot on target in the second half, but Rylee Louden saved the attempt in the 82nd minute. Louden finished with one save and allowed no goals in 90:00.

Washington College recorded 21 shots and nine corner kicks in the victory.

Maryland Sports Blog Take

Washington College women’s soccer established control with two first-half goals, including Ross’ first career score. Louden’s second-half save protected the shutout as Washington College improved to 3-2-0.

Washington College will host Rutgers-Camden in a non-conference game Wednesday, September 16, at 7 p.m.
