Washington College Shoremen men’s soccer defeated the Hood College Blazers 2-0 on Sept. 9, 2026, at Thomas Athletic Field in Frederick, Maryland. Tucker Sprano and Simone Perin scored in the second half as Washington College improved to 1-0-3, while Hood College fell to 2-2-0.
The match remained scoreless at halftime. Washington College created seven first-half shots, with Kevin Martinez and Kaua de Oliveira recording shots that were saved by the Hood College goalkeeper. The Shoremen also earned a corner kick at 35:23.
Shoremen Break Through After Halftime
Washington College continued its offensive pressure after halftime. Tucker Sprano scored at 53:20 after stealing the ball from a defender and finishing from the top of the box to give the Shoremen a 1-0 lead.
The Shoremen continued to generate chances after taking the lead, including two more shots on target and an attempt that struck the crossbar. Walker Patino also recorded a blocked shot at 50:58.
Simone Perin added the second goal at 80:06. Perin stole the ball from the Hood College defense, worked past the defense and scored in the lower-left corner to extend Washington College’s lead to 2-0.
Washington College Controls the Match
Washington College finished with 17 shots and four corner kicks. The Shoremen put eight shots on goal, while Hood College recorded one shot on goal.
Hannes Budde played the full 90 minutes in goal for Washington College, made one save and allowed zero goals.
