Stevenson University Women’s Volleyball Opens 2026 With Two Wins Behind Rachel Lenz

Stevenson University women’s volleyball opened the 2026 season with two victories on September 5 at Owings Mills Gymnasium, defeating St. Mary’s College of Maryland, 3-2, and Eastern Mennonite University, 3-0. Rachel Lenz led the Mustangs in both matches as Stevenson improved to 2-0.

Stevenson University Women’s Volleyball Rally Past St. Mary’s

Stevenson University won the opening set against St. Mary’s College of Maryland, 25-19, but the Seahawks answered with consecutive set victories of 25-17 and 25-12. Stevenson responded with a 25-18 fourth-set win before taking the deciding set, 15-13.

Rachel Lenz led Stevenson with 15 kills and a .345 hitting percentage. Maren Zepfel and Sydney Salazar added 10 kills apiece, while Logan Burge recorded eight kills. Declyn Tooze finished with 21 assists, and Isabella Terra contributed 22 digs.

Mustangs Sweep Eastern Mennonite University

Stevenson University completed the day with a 3-0 sweep of Eastern Mennonite University. The Mustangs won the sets, 25-17, 25-18, and 25-16.

Lenz paced Stevenson with 11 kills, a .400 hitting percentage, and four service aces. Burge added six kills, Autumn Henry recorded five kills on a .400 attack percentage, and Tooze finished with 12 assists and four service aces. Courtney Foose had 11 assists as Stevenson totaled 35 kills, 31 assists, and 14 service aces in the sweep.

Stevenson University Women’s Volleyball Schedule

Stevenson University is scheduled to play at Catholic University on September 8 at 7 p.m. The match will be Stevenson’s first road contest of the season.

Maryland Sports Blog Take

Stevenson University showed its ability to win in different ways during the season-opening doubleheader. The Mustangs rallied from a 2-1 deficit against St. Mary’s College of Maryland before completing the day with a sweep of Eastern Mennonite University.

Lenz led the offense in both victories, while Tooze directed the attack with 33 assists across the two matches. Stevenson enters its next match with a 2-0 record.
