McDaniel College football opened its season with a 13-7 victory over Catholic on Friday, Sept. 4, 2026, at Rembert Field at Kenneth R. Gill Stadium in Westminster, Md. Sophomore Jason St. Leger ran for 103 yards and one touchdown as McDaniel College improved to 1-0.
The Green Terror won their second consecutive home season opener, while Catholic fell to 0-1. McDaniel College led 13-0 at halftime after a scoreless first quarter and held Catholic to 200 total yards.
Jason St. Leger Starts McDaniel College Football Scoring
St. Leger scored his first career touchdown on a 2-yard run with 12:46 remaining in the second quarter. His touchdown gave McDaniel College its first points of the season.
Junior Mick Johnston added a 24-yard touchdown pass to sophomore Michael Brown Jr. with 3:07 remaining before halftime. Brown finished with two catches for 31 yards and one touchdown.
Sophomore Cordae James contributed 81 rushing yards, while McDaniel College totaled 269 yards. The Green Terror gained 160 yards on the ground and 109 through the air.
McDaniel College Defense Limits Catholic
McDaniel College held Catholic scoreless through the first three quarters. Catholic scored its only points on a 24-yard touchdown pass with 13:34 remaining in the game. The score cut McDaniel College’s lead to 13-7, but the Green Terror held on for the victory.
The McDaniel College defense recorded four sacks, nine tackles for loss and four forced turnovers. Catholic fumbled eight times and lost three of those fumbles.
Junior Taevon LeGrande led McDaniel College with 12 total tackles, including two tackles for loss and one sack. Catholic finished with 52 rushing yards and 148 passing yards, while the Cardinals converted 3 of 14 third-down attempts.
McDaniel College Football Heads to Salisbury
McDaniel College travels to No. 17 Salisbury on Saturday, Sept. 13, for a 1 p.m. kickoff against the Sea Gulls. The game is the Green Terror’s next scheduled contest.
