The Norfolk Tides will volunteer Tuesday, July 28, at the Foodbank of Southeastern Virginia and the Eastern Shore’s St. Paul Mobile Pantry as part of MLB’s America250 Initiative. The service project will run from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Eastern Time, with catcher Creed Willems and other Tides personnel loading cars with food to help feed the community.
Norfolk Tides Schedule July 28 Service Project
The Norfolk Tides announced their participation in the initiative on July 24, 2026. Their personnel will volunteer at the St. Paul Mobile Pantry, located at the Foodbank of Southeastern Virginia and the Eastern Shore, to help those in need.
For more than 40 years, the Foodbank of Southeastern Virginia and the Eastern Shore has worked to fight hunger and provide nutritious meals to neighbors throughout Hampton Roads and beyond. The organization began in 1981 as a small community effort and has provided more than 420 million meals to people in need.
MLB America250 Initiative Includes Community Service Pledge
Major League Baseball, Minor League Baseball and the AUSL have jointly pledged to give 250,000 hours of community service in 2026 as part of America’s 250th birthday celebration. The Norfolk Tides’ volunteer project is part of the broader initiative.
The Norfolk Tides have also participated in community activities through school visits connected to their reading program and the Play Ball initiative. The club has made visits to The CHKD, Sentara and other nonprofit organizations.

The Norfolk Tides’ July 28 project will place Creed Willems and other Tides personnel at a food pantry serving the Hampton Roads area. Their assignment to load cars with food provides a specific service role within MLB’s America250 Initiative.
