Cashel Dugger drove in four as the Fredericksburg Nationals beat the Kannapolis Cannon Ballers 6-3 on Aug. 21, 2026, to even the series at two games apiece. The victory gave the Fredericksburg Nationals their 70th win of the year.
Kannapolis scored first in the top of the first inning. Jaden Fauske walked and scored on Matthew Boughton27s RBI double, and Boughton later scored on Stiven Flores27 sacrifice fly. The Cannon Ballers added another run in the top of the third inning to take a 3-0 lead.
Fredericksburg Nationals Tie the Game in the Fourth
The Fredericksburg Nationals answered in the bottom of the fourth inning. Jordan Williams singled to begin the inning, and Gavin Fien followed with a walk before Hunter Hines brought Williams home with an RBI single.
Dugger then recorded his first two professional RBIs in an unusual sequence. After a groundball to the second baseman, the throw struck the back of a baserunner, allowing Fien and Hines to score and tying the game at 3.
Josiah Gray threw two scoreless innings with two strikeouts in his second game of a rehabilitation stint. He was on the mound when the Fredericksburg Nationals erased their deficit and tied the game.
Three-Run Seventh Gives Fredericksburg the Lead
After leaving the bases loaded in the sixth inning, the Fredericksburg Nationals loaded them again in the seventh with no outs. Jamison Jones put the team ahead with an infield single.
Dugger followed with a single that scored Hunter Hines and Rafi Ramirez. The hit gave Dugger four RBIs and completed the three-run inning, putting the Fredericksburg Nationals ahead 6-3.
Adam Boucher closed the game with a four-out save, his first with the Fredericksburg Nationals this year. Fredericksburg will seek at least a split in the series in the next game, with right-handed pitcher Landon Harmon scheduled to start against Kannapolis left-handed pitcher Nick Pinto.
