Mount St. Mary’s Men’s and Women’s Tennis Announce 2026 Fall Tournament Schedules
Mount St. Mary’s men’s and women’s tennis will get an early opportunity to prepare for the spring dual-match season with busy tournament schedules this fall.
The Mount announced its 2026 fall slates on Monday, with the men scheduled to compete in five tournaments and the women set for six. Both teams will make several regional trips, including multiple events in Maryland, along with ITA Atlantic Regional competition.
The men will begin their season Sept. 18 at Loyola Maryland’s McClure Invitational in Baltimore, while the women open one week later at the Towson Invitational on Sept. 25.
The fall schedule will give head coach Leandros Misdrachis and his staff an important early look at returning players and newcomers before team competition becomes the primary focus in the spring.

The men’s team enters the fall after finishing the 2025-26 season with an 8-13 record. Seven players return from last season’s roster, while three newcomers join the program, giving Mount St. Mary’s a 10-player roster entering 2026-27.
Pournaropoulos leads Mount men
One of the biggest names to watch will be Stefanos Pournaropoulos.
Pournaropoulos led the Mount in both singles victories and doubles victories during his freshman season. He earned Second Team All-MAAC honors in singles and Third Team All-MAAC honors in doubles alongside Nikos Makris.
That gives the Mountaineers an established top-of-the-lineup player to build around.
Pournaropoulos will be joined by a returning group that includes Akarsh Gaonkar, Alessio Guarino, Nate Helms, Alexi Roy and Maryland native Ryan Wagner. The 2026-27 roster lists Wagner as a senior from Bethesda.
The fall should also provide Misdrachis with his first extended opportunity to evaluate newcomers Sergei Likhogrud and Antoine Martel in tournament competition.
Men open in Baltimore
The McClure Invitational at Loyola gives Mount St. Mary’s a familiar regional starting point.
The event runs Sept. 18-20 in Baltimore and has been a regular part of the Mount’s fall schedule in recent years. Mount St. Mary’s also competed in Loyola’s Rick McClure Invitational during previous seasons.
That tournament should allow the coaching staff to experiment with singles positions and doubles combinations without the pressure of a traditional spring dual match.
The Mount then heads to the Metro Masters from Oct. 2-4 before entering one of the most demanding portions of the fall.
Busy October includes ITA Regional and Navy
Mount St. Mary’s will compete in the ITA Atlantic Regional from Oct. 8-11, while another portion of the roster is scheduled for the Navy Invitational from Oct. 9-11.
The overlapping dates indicate the Mount could split its roster between events, giving multiple players meaningful competition during the same weekend.
ITA regional competition should offer some of the strongest individual competition the Mountaineers see during the fall. The tournament format also gives players opportunities to measure themselves individually against competitors from programs throughout the region.
The Navy Invitational provides another Maryland-based opportunity and sends the Mount to Annapolis for competition against a regional field.
Mount St. Mary’s concludes its men’s fall season Oct. 24-25 at the Morgan State Invitational.
The Mount has a history of playing in Morgan State’s fall tournament, including a 2023 appearance at McDonogh School in Owings Mills.

The women enter the fall following a strong 2025-26 campaign.
Mount St. Mary’s finished 14-9 last season, and the program announced that all eight players on this year’s roster are returners.
That continuity could become one of the team’s biggest strengths.
Venus Tang headlines experienced women’s team
Venus Tang returns after emerging as one of the Mount’s top performers last season.
Tang led Mount St. Mary’s in singles victories and tied for the team lead in doubles wins. She finished 15-15 overall in singles competition, including an impressive 13-8 record in dual matches, while going 6-2 against conference opponents.
Her performance earned her Third Team All-MAAC honors in singles.
Tang also formed one of the Mount’s strongest doubles tandems with Bella Pescatore last season. The pair recorded 16 victories together and climbed into the program record book among the most successful doubles pairings in school history.
With another year of experience, Tang should again be a major part of Mount St. Mary’s lineup.
Tsakiri gives Mount another All-MAAC weapon
Tang is not the only accomplished player returning.
Eirini Tsakiri earned First Team All-MAAC honors during her first season with Mount St. Mary’s. She posted a 14-9 regular-season singles record and went 6-2 against MAAC competition, playing primarily at No. 2 singles.
Tsakiri also contributed in doubles, teaming with Margherita Trolese to collect 13 victories overall.
Having Tang and Tsakiri back gives the Mount two proven conference performers near the top of the lineup.
The returning roster also includes Emma Kaden, Anna Barlini, Emma Perkins, Kaajal Ramisetty and Anya Rosenbach.
Towson starts a Maryland-heavy fall
The women open at the Towson Invitational from Sept. 25-27.
That provides Mount St. Mary’s with another in-state event before October brings a particularly busy tournament stretch.
The Mount is scheduled for both the Loyola Invitational in Baltimore and the Metro Masters in Hamden, Connecticut, from Oct. 2-4. The official schedule lists both events for the same weekend, again creating the possibility that the roster will be divided between tournaments.
Mount St. Mary’s then travels to Fairfax, Virginia, for the George Mason Invitational on Oct. 10-11 before competing in the ITA Atlantic Regional from Oct. 15-19.
The women conclude the fall at Morgan State on Oct. 24-25, meaning both Mount tennis programs will finish their tournament seasons at the same Maryland event.
Fall tournaments provide valuable development
While the spring dual-match season determines team records and conference positioning, fall tournament tennis serves an important developmental role.
Players have opportunities to accumulate individual match experience, test themselves against opponents from different conferences and establish doubles chemistry before the spring schedule begins.
For Mount St. Mary’s, that could be especially valuable on the men’s side with three newcomers entering the program.
The women have a different challenge. With the roster returning intact from a 14-win season, the fall becomes an opportunity to refine a lineup that already has significant experience and multiple All-MAAC players.
Strong Maryland presence on both schedules
The Mount’s tournament schedules also offer plenty of opportunities for local college tennis fans.
Between the two programs, Mount St. Mary’s will compete at events hosted by Loyola Maryland, Towson, Navy and Morgan State.
That means a significant portion of the fall will be played relatively close to Emmitsburg rather than entirely at distant regional tournaments.
The ITA Atlantic Regionals and Metro Masters will provide higher-level regional tests, while the Maryland events give the Mount opportunities to compete against familiar programs and regional opponents.
For two teams entering the season in different positions — a men’s program incorporating several newcomers and a women’s program returning its entire roster — the fall should provide valuable information before the championship portion of the season arrives.
Mount St. Mary’s men’s tennis begins competition Sept. 18 at Loyola’s McClure Invitational, while the women begin Sept. 25 at the Towson Invitational.
