Mount St. Mary’s Women’s Basketball Unveils Challenging 2026-27 Non-Conference Schedule
Mount St. Mary’s women’s basketball will have plenty of opportunities to test itself against teams from across Maryland and beyond before Metro Conference play begins.
The Mountaineers announced their 12-game non-conference schedule for the 2026-27 season, a slate highlighted by seven games against Maryland programs and road tests against Maryland, West Virginia and Nebraska.
Mount St. Mary’s will open the season at Knott Arena against Navy on Nov. 2. It will mark the first time since the 2018-19 season that the Mountaineers have started their season at home. The matchup will also renew one of the program’s longest in-state series, with Mount St. Mary’s and Navy meeting for the 31st time. The Mount enters the matchup looking for its third consecutive victory over the Midshipmen.
The home opener begins a non-conference schedule featuring four games at Knott Arena and eight on the road.

Maryland-heavy schedule gives Mount plenty of local tests
For Maryland Sports Blog readers, one of the biggest takeaways is just how much of the schedule will be played against teams from the state.
Seven of the Mount’s 12 non-conference opponents are Maryland programs: Navy, UMBC, St. Mary’s College of Maryland, Maryland Eastern Shore, Morgan State, Maryland and the Mount itself representing Emmitsburg in those matchups.
The season opener against Navy immediately gives the Mountaineers a Division I in-state matchup. Three days later, Mount St. Mary’s travels to Baltimore to face UMBC on Nov. 5.
The Mount will later visit Maryland Eastern Shore on Nov. 30 and Morgan State on Dec. 9 before finishing non-conference play against Maryland in College Park on Dec. 13.
That Maryland matchup should represent the Mountaineers’ most difficult test of the non-conference schedule.
Mount St. Mary’s visited College Park last season and suffered a 92-44 loss to the Terrapins. Maryland went on to reach the second round of the 2026 NCAA Tournament.
The Mount will now get another opportunity against Brenda Frese’s program, this time as the final tune-up before Metro Conference action.
Mount gets four games at Knott Arena
Mount St. Mary’s fans will have four chances to see the team at Knott Arena during non-conference play.
Following the Navy opener, the Mountaineers host UAlbany on Nov. 8 as part of the America East-Metro Challenge. It will be the first meeting between the programs.
Bucknell comes to Emmitsburg on Nov. 14.
That matchup gives Mount St. Mary’s an opportunity to reverse last season’s result. The Mountaineers traveled to Lewisburg, Pennsylvania, in November 2025 and lost a defensive battle to Bucknell, 49-45.
The final home non-conference game will provide a unique all-Maryland matchup.
Mount St. Mary’s hosts Division III St. Mary’s College of Maryland on Nov. 21. According to Mount Athletics, the programs have not faced one another since 1978.
Major road tests await the Mountaineers
Head coach Antoine White’s team will spend considerably more time away from Emmitsburg during the early part of the season.
Eight of the 12 non-conference games are scheduled away from Knott Arena.
One of the most intriguing comes Nov. 17 when Mount St. Mary’s visits Nebraska. It will be the first meeting between the Mountaineers and Cornhuskers.
The Mount will also face West Virginia for a Dec. 3 road matchup before traveling to Dayton three days later. Dayton is another first-time opponent for Mount St. Mary’s.
Those games should provide a useful measuring stick before the Mount returns to Maryland for its final two non-conference contests.
Familiar opponents return
Several teams on the 2026-27 schedule also appeared on last year’s slate.
Mount St. Mary’s defeated Morgan State, 69-47, at Knott Arena last November. The Mountaineers also beat Lehigh, 75-64, later in the season.
Maryland Eastern Shore handed the Mount a 67-59 loss in Emmitsburg, while Bucknell escaped with its 49-45 victory.
Those rematches add some familiarity to a schedule that also features three first-time opponents in UAlbany, Nebraska and Dayton.
Mount looking to build off 2025-26 season
Mount St. Mary’s finished the 2025-26 season 15-15 overall and 11-9 in conference play.
The Mountaineers produced several encouraging stretches during the season, including wins in six of their final eight regular-season games before Merrimack ended their season with a 62-48 loss in the conference tournament.
Mount St. Mary’s also saw increased support in Emmitsburg. According to the university, the program jumped from 10th in the conference in attendance to third during the 2025-26 season.
With Navy coming to Knott Arena for opening night and several marquee road opportunities later in the schedule, the Mountaineers should have no shortage of early-season tests.
The combination of regional rivals, Power Conference opponents and familiar mid-major programs gives White’s team a challenging path into Metro Conference play.
The full 2026-27 schedule, including the Mount’s conference dates, has not yet been announced.
