Fredericksburg Nationals Rally After Delmarva Shorebirds Take Early Lead
The Delmarva Shorebirds opened the scoring in the third inning. Joshua Liranzo led off with a single, stole second and scored on a Juan Ortega RBI hit. Ortega later scored on a sacrifice fly to give Delmarva a 2-0 lead.
The Fredericksburg Nationals answered in the bottom of the inning when Coy James hit his 18th home run of the season. The home run broke the Fredericksburg Nationals’ single-season record previously held by Sammy Infante and cut Delmarva’s lead to 2-1.
Delmarva added another run in the fourth inning to take a 3-1 lead.
After Brayan Orrantia entered the game, Hunter Hines hit a solo home run, and the Nationals received RBI contributions from Dashyll Tejeda, Jamison Jones and Coy James during a five-run inning that put Fredericksburg ahead 5-3.
Juan Ortega Grand Slam Puts Delmarva Ahead
The Delmarva Shorebirds regained the lead in the sixth inning. With the bases loaded, Miguel Rodriguez hit an RBI single to pull Delmarva within one run.
Juan Ortega followed with a grand slam, giving the Shorebirds an 8-5 advantage. The home run forced Fredericksburg to mount another comeback in the late innings.

After the first two batters were retired in the eighth inning, Jamison Jones hit a solo home run to start the Nationals’ rally. Coy James then tripled and scored on an RBI single by Manny Cabrera.
Manny Cabrera later scored when Gavin Fien doubled, tying the game 8-8 entering the ninth inning. Fredericksburg then moved the winning run into scoring position when Ramirez walked and Williams singled.
Jones followed with a bloop into center field that scored Ramirez and gave the Fredericksburg Nationals a 9-8 walk-off victory over the Delmarva Shorebirds. The hit marked the first walk-off hit of Jones’ professional career.

The Fredericksburg Nationals were scheduled to travel to North Carolina the following week to play the Fayetteville Woodpeckers. The victory gave Fredericksburg five wins in six games against Delmarva and its 15th win in 18 games against the Shorebirds this season.
