Army-Navy Cup XV Set for October 9 at Subaru Park as Rivalry Continues to Grow

One of college soccer’s premier rivalry events is headed back to Subaru Park.
Navy and Army will meet in Army-Navy Cup XV on Friday, Oct. 9, 2026, at Subaru Park in Chester, Pennsylvania, with both the women’s and men’s soccer programs again taking part in a single-admission doubleheader. The women will open the event at 4 p.m., followed by the men’s match at 7 p.m.
Both games will count as Patriot League contests, while the men’s matchup will also be part of the Army-Navy Star Series presented by USAA.
For Navy fans in Maryland, the annual trip from Annapolis to the Philadelphia area has become much more than another regular-season soccer game. Army-Navy Cup has developed into a showcase event that combines one of American sports’ greatest rivalries with the atmosphere of a Major League Soccer stadium.
And it is not going anywhere anytime soon.
Army-Navy Cup Staying at Subaru Park Through at Least 2030
The Philadelphia Union announced that the organization has reached a new multi-year extension with the Army West Point Athletic Association, Naval Academy Athletic Association and Leidos that will keep Army-Navy Cup at Subaru Park through at least 2030.
That is significant considering how much the event has grown since its debut.
The Philadelphia Union created Army-Navy Cup and has hosted the rivalry at Subaru Park since the inaugural edition in 2012. What began primarily as a neutral-site men’s soccer rivalry game has developed into one of the most recognizable annual events on the college soccer calendar.
Subaru Park is the home of Major League Soccer’s Philadelphia Union, giving Army and Navy players an opportunity to compete in a professional soccer environment.
The location also makes sense geographically.
Philadelphia has long served as a major setting for the Army-Navy rivalry in multiple sports. Holding the soccer game in Chester gives supporters from Annapolis and West Point a relatively accessible neutral location while maintaining the rivalry’s strong connection to the Philadelphia region.
Doubleheader Returns After Historic 2025 Event
The 2026 event will mark the second consecutive year that both the Army and Navy men’s and women’s soccer teams play at Subaru Park on the same day.
The 2025 Army-Navy Cup XIV was the first edition to feature the men’s and women’s programs together as a doubleheader.
The experiment proved successful.
A record 11,363 fans attended last year’s event, making it the first Army-Navy Cup to surpass 11,000 spectators.
The women opened the doubleheader with a dramatic 2-2 draw, while Army defeated Navy 4-0 in the men’s match.
That attendance figure demonstrated the potential of combining the two programs into one major rivalry showcase rather than treating the men’s and women’s games as separate events.
Now the format is returning.
Fans purchasing admission for Army-Navy Cup XV will again have the opportunity to watch both rivalry matches at Subaru Park.
Navy Men Looking for Redemption
For Navy men’s soccer, the 2026 matchup will come with some added motivation.
Army handed the Midshipmen a convincing 4-0 defeat in Army-Navy Cup XIV last October. Army led 1-0 at halftime before scoring three times in the second half to put the game away.
It was one of the most lopsided results in the recent history of the rivalry.
Navy still owns the advantage in the all-time men’s soccer series. According to Navy’s official historical records, the Midshipmen hold a 41-34-17 record against Army dating back to the programs’ first meeting on Nov. 23, 1938.
However, Army enters 2026 having won the past two meetings.
That should make Army-Navy Cup XV particularly important for Navy.
This is already a rivalry in which records rarely tell the entire story. Adding revenge from last season’s defeat gives the Midshipmen another reason to circle Oct. 9 on the schedule.
Army Coming Off Winning 2025 Season
Army finished the 2025 season 7-6-5, highlighted by its dominant Army-Navy Cup victory. Head coach Brian Plotkin returns for his sixth season leading the Black Knights.
Army’s 2026 schedule features 16 regular-season matches and includes another service-academy matchup against Air Force before Patriot League play begins.
The Black Knights open conference play against Boston University on Sept. 12 and will face several Patriot League opponents before meeting Navy at Subaru Park.
That placement on the schedule should make the Oct. 9 contest meaningful beyond rivalry bragging rights.
Patriot League positioning could be at stake as the teams enter the second half of their conference schedules.
More Than Just Another Soccer Match
Army-Navy Cup continues to separate itself from the standard college soccer experience.
Most regular-season college soccer games are played on campus in front of relatively modest crowds. Army and Navy instead get the opportunity to play inside an MLS venue with thousands of cadets, midshipmen, alumni, military members and fans surrounding the field.
Navy Athletic Director Michael Kelly described the game as one of the premier regular-season fixtures in college soccer and praised the Philadelphia Union for helping build the event into what it has become.
The atmosphere has become part of the attraction.
Army-Navy games already carry emotional weight regardless of sport. The soccer version brings that rivalry to a professional stadium, giving the players an experience few college athletes receive during the regular season.
Last year’s record crowd showed that fans are responding.
Philadelphia Connection Gets Even Bigger in 2026
This year’s event will also take place during an important moment in American history.
The United States is celebrating its 250th anniversary in 2026, and Philadelphia will play a major role in those celebrations because of the city’s place in the nation’s founding.
Philadelphia Union officials said additional programming and special elements connected to the anniversary are expected to be announced for Army-Navy Cup XV.
That could give the game an even greater military and patriotic presence than usual.
The event already attracts active-duty service members, veterans, academy families and supporters from throughout the region.
Pairing Army-Navy with America’s 250th anniversary makes the 2026 edition particularly fitting.
The Rivalry Continues to Expand
Perhaps the most important development is not simply that Army-Navy Cup returns this fall.
It is that the event now has long-term stability.
The agreement keeping the game at Subaru Park through at least 2030 shows that the Philadelphia Union, Army and Navy view the event as something worth continuing to build.
The crowd has grown.
The women’s programs have now become part of the showcase.
The event takes place in an MLS stadium.
And one of the oldest rivalries in American college athletics now has another signature annual event beyond football.
That is good for Army, good for Navy and good for college soccer.

Army-Navy soccer deserves more attention.
Most sports fans immediately think of football when they hear Army-Navy, but the rivalry extends throughout the academies’ athletic departments. Soccer has become one of the best examples of how that rivalry can create something special outside the football stadium.
Subaru Park gives this matchup an identity of its own.
More than 11,000 fans attending a regular-season college soccer event is impressive, and bringing the women’s programs into the event was a smart move. Instead of creating two separate rivalry games, Army, Navy and the Philadelphia Union have created an entire afternoon and evening around service-academy soccer.
For Navy, there is also some unfinished business.
Losing 4-0 to Army in front of a record crowd last year will not have been forgotten when the Midshipmen return to Chester.
Oct. 9 gives Navy an opportunity to change the story.
And with Army-Navy Cup now secured at Subaru Park through at least 2030, this rivalry looks positioned to become an even bigger fixture on the college soccer calendar.
