Frederick Keys Rally Past Jersey Shore BlueClaws 9-7 to Secure Road Series Split

The Frederick Keys defeated the Jersey Shore BlueClaws 9-7 on Thursday, Aug. 6, at ShoreTown Ballpark in Lakewood, New Jersey, to split the road series. This victory marked Frederick’s third consecutive win over Jersey Shore and came in Game 3 of the six-game series.

The Keys outscored the BlueClaws 5-1 over the final three innings. Frederick trailed 6-4 after five innings before tying the game in the seventh, taking the lead in the eighth, and adding two runs in the ninth.

Jersey Shore Takes an Early Lead

Enddy Azocar opened the scoring with an RBI triple in the top of the first inning, putting the Frederick Keys ahead 1-0. The BlueClaws responded with two runs in the bottom of the second after two Frederick Keys errors, moving ahead 2-1.

Frederick regained the lead in the third inning. Fernando Peguero scored from third on a wild pitch, and Yasmil Bucce followed with an RBI single to give the Keys a 3-2 advantage.

After a scoreless fourth inning, Colin Tuft scored on a wild pitch in the top of the fifth to extend Frederick’s lead to 4-2. Jersey Shore responded with four runs in the bottom of the inning to take a 6-4 lead.

Frederick Keys Rally in the Final Innings

Neither team scored in the sixth inning, but Frederick tied the game in the top of the seventh. A Jersey Shore throwing error combined with an RBI sacrifice bunt from Colin Tuft produced the tying runs, leveling the score at 6-6.

Azocar put Frederick back in front with an RBI sacrifice fly to right in the top of the eighth. Ryan Cabarcas pitched a scoreless bottom of the inning to preserve the 7-6 lead.

Braylon Whitaker added a two-RBI single in the top of the ninth, increasing Frederick’s lead to 9-6. Chandler Marsh allowed a solo home run in the bottom of the inning but retired the final three batters to secure the 9-7 victory.

Next Game in the Series

Game 4 of the six-game series between the Frederick Keys and Jersey Shore BlueClaws is scheduled for a 7:05 p.m. first pitch Friday at ShoreTown Ballpark, starting the second half of the series.
