Frederick Keys Shut Out Jersey Shore BlueClaws (Phillies) 2-0 to Win Six-Game Series

The Frederick Keys defeated the Jersey Shore BlueClaws (Phillies) 2-0 Friday, Aug. 7, at ShoreTown Ballpark in Lakewood, New Jersey. The victory came in game four of the six-game series and secured the series win for Frederick, which won the first four games on the road in New Jersey. The game began after a 49-minute delay caused by inclement weather.

JT Quinn Delivers Scoreless Start

JT Quinn pitched 5.2 innings of scoreless baseball and recorded seven strikeouts for the Frederick Keys. Frederick held Jersey Shore to four base hits and had 10 strikeouts as a team. Quinn opened with a 1-2-3 bottom of the first inning and worked through another scoreless frame in the third to keep the game tied 0-0.

Frederick Keys Build Lead With RBI Groundouts

Randal Diaz gave the Frederick Keys a 1-0 lead with an RBI groundout to shortstop in the top of the fourth inning. Both teams remained scoreless in the fifth inning before Quinn ended his outing with his seventh strikeout.

Colin Tuft extended Frederick’s lead to 2-0 with an RBI groundout to third base in the top of the seventh inning.

Keys Complete Shutout

The Frederick Keys turned a double play with the bases loaded in the bottom of the eighth inning, preventing Jersey Shore from scoring and preserving Frederick’s two-run advantage.

Bradley Brehmer pitched a scoreless bottom of the ninth inning to complete the shutout. The Frederick Keys and Jersey Shore BlueClaws are scheduled to play game five Saturday at 7:05 p.m. at ShoreTown Ballpark.
