Navy Gymnastics Names Daniel Gurevich Team Captain for 2027 Season
The Navy men’s gymnastics program has selected one of its most accomplished returning athletes to lead the Midshipmen into the 2027 season, naming Daniel Gurevich as the team’s captain. The announcement recognizes Gurevich’s growth as both a competitor and leader after a standout junior campaign and reinforces the program’s commitment to developing leaders on and off the competition floor.
A native of Frisco, Texas, Gurevich has steadily become one of Navy’s most dependable all-around performers. During his career, he has earned All-ECAC honors, been named to the ECAC All-Academic Team, and received College Gymnastics Association First-Team All-America Scholar-Athlete recognition, highlighting his excellence in both athletics and academics.
Gurevich enters his senior season after another productive year for the Midshipmen. Throughout the 2026 campaign, he consistently contributed on multiple events, highlighted by strong performances on floor exercise, pommel horse, vault, parallel bars, and high bar. He helped Navy secure key victories during the regular season, including the annual Star Meet against Army, while also competing on the national stage at the NCAA and USA Gymnastics championships.
His leadership was evident throughout last season. At the Navy Open, Gurevich tied for the individual title on floor exercise as the Midshipmen captured the team championship. Later in the year, he helped Navy defeat Army in the Star Meet with solid performances across multiple events, once again demonstrating his versatility and consistency under pressure.
As captain, Gurevich will guide a Navy squad looking to build on another successful campaign. The Midshipmen qualified for the 2026 NCAA Men’s Gymnastics Championships, continuing the program’s tradition of competing among the nation’s elite teams. With several experienced veterans returning alongside a talented incoming class, Navy enters the upcoming season with expectations of once again challenging for conference and national honors.
Navy has long been recognized as one of collegiate gymnastics’ premier programs, producing conference champions, All-Americans, and military leaders. Team captains play an especially important role within the program, serving as mentors while setting the standard for discipline, accountability, and competitive excellence.

Daniel Gurevich is an outstanding choice to captain Navy Gymnastics. His résumé speaks for itself, but perhaps more importantly, he has consistently delivered in some of the Midshipmen’s biggest meets while excelling academically. Navy expects its captains to lead by example, and Gurevich has done exactly that throughout his career. With him leading the locker room, the Midshipmen should once again be in position to compete among the nation’s top gymnastics programs in 2027.
