Towson Trio Set to Represent Their Nations at 2026 World Lacrosse Women’s Championshipti
TOWSON, Md. — Towson University women’s lacrosse will once again be represented on the international stage as assistant coach Rebecca Lane and standout student-athletes Ocea Leavy and Hannah Lewis prepare to compete in the 2026 World Lacrosse Women’s Championship in Tokyo, Japan. The trio will showcase Towson’s growing global impact while representing their respective national teams.
Lane and Leavy will suit up for Australia, marking the second consecutive World Championship appearance for both after earning spots on the Australian Women’s Field Lacrosse Team. Their continued selection reflects Australia’s confidence in two key contributors with strong international experience.
Lewis will represent Puerto Rico, making her second appearance with the national program. The Tigers attacker has continued to build an impressive résumé after another productive collegiate season and has become one of Towson’s premier offensive threats. Earlier this summer, Lewis and Leavy were also recognized as CSC Academic All-District selections, highlighting their excellence both on the field and in the classroom.
The World Lacrosse Women’s Championship is one of the sport’s premier international events, bringing together the top national teams from around the globe every four years. The 2026 tournament in Tokyo will feature elite competition as nations battle for a world championship and continue the growth of women’s lacrosse worldwide.
For Towson, the international recognition is another testament to the strength of head coach Sonia LaMonica’s program. The Tigers have consistently produced players capable of competing at the highest levels, and having two student-athletes and an assistant coach representing their countries further reinforces Towson’s reputation as one of the nation’s respected women’s lacrosse programs.
Lane’s presence on Australia’s coaching and playing pipeline also demonstrates the international connections within the Towson program, while Leavy and Lewis will gain invaluable experience competing against many of the world’s best players before returning to Maryland.
