OnDeck Partners Acquires Wilmington Blue Rocks, Plans Fan Fest at Frawley Stadium

OnDeck Partners, backed by Marc Lasry’s Avenue Sports Fund, announced on July 21, 2026, the acquisition of the Wilmington Blue Rocks, the High-A affiliate of the Washington Nationals, marking an expansion of their Minor League Baseball portfolio. The takeover received final approval from the Riverfront Development Corporation (RDC), which manages Daniel S. Frawley Stadium in Wilmington, Delaware.

Acquisition Approved to Bolster Wilmington’s Baseball and Community Experience

The Wilmington Blue Rocks have been a staple of Delaware sports since their inception in 1993. OnDeck Partners, which also owns the Montgomery Biscuits and Visalia Rawhide, plans to enhance the stadium’s role as a vibrant community venue beyond baseball. CEO Mike Carney expressed commitment to the team and local community: “Our focus is building and investing in teams at the heart of their communities, and Wilmington is exactly that. For over 30 years, the Blue Rocks have been where families create memories. We are committed to serving this iconic franchise while partnering with the RDC to enhance the fan experience and drive growth across the region.”

Building on Legacy of Stewardship and Community Engagement

OnDeck Partners acknowledged the stewardship of former owners Dave Heller and Clark Minker of Main Street Baseball, who led the Blue Rocks and Frawley Stadium for 11 years. Under their guidance, the team undertook multiple ballpark improvements and earned the Carolina League’s Community Award four times for their charitable work and community connection.

OnDeck Partners pledged to build upon this foundation by expanding community programming, strengthening local partnerships, and making Frawley Stadium a year-round destination for sports and events accessible to families and fans.

Fan Fest and Season Opener to Mark New Ownership Era

To celebrate the acquisition and engage with fans, OnDeck Partners will host a Fan Fest on August 4, 2026, starting at 4:30 p.m. on the stadium ticket plaza. The family-friendly event will feature a kids’ zone, local entertainment, music, and free treats, culminating in a game where the Wilmington Blue Rocks face the Brooklyn Cyclones at Frawley Stadium.

The Blue Rocks continue to represent a beloved baseball institution in the Delaware Valley, with renewed focus on community value and fan engagement underway under OnDeck Partners’ ownership.
