Orioles Sign Second-Round Pick Ty Head, Continue Building Promising 2026 Draft Class
The Baltimore Orioles continued to lock up members of their 2026 MLB Draft class on Friday, announcing the signing of second-round selection Ty Head, an athletic center fielder out of NC State.
Head becomes the second Orioles draft pick to officially sign this year, joining first-round selection Eric Booth Jr., as Baltimore continues working toward the July 27, 5 p.m. ET signing deadline.
The Winter Garden, Florida, native enjoyed a standout collegiate career with the Wolfpack, establishing himself as one of the most dynamic outfielders in the ACC. His combination of speed, defensive instincts, and improving offensive game made him one of the top center field prospects available in this year’s draft.
The Orioles have placed a heavy emphasis on athleticism and up-the-middle talent in recent drafts, and Head fits that philosophy perfectly. He has the tools to impact the game in several ways, including:
