BREAKING: Ravens Find Their New Voice as Kyle Youmans Takes Over the Radio Booth

The Baltimore Ravens officially have a new voice.

On Tuesday, the organization announced that Kyle Youmans has been named the new radio play-by-play announcer for Ravens football, replacing longtime broadcaster Gerry Sandusky and ushering in a new era for one of the NFL’s most respected radio broadcasts.

The move closes one chapter in franchise history and begins another. For more than two decades, Ravens fans heard Sandusky narrate some of the biggest moments in team history. Now that responsibility shifts to one of the rising stars in sports broadcasting.

In announcing the hire, the Ravens stated:

“Kyle Youmans has been named the new voice of the Baltimore Ravens.”

The full announcement highlighted Youmans’ extensive broadcasting experience, his years covering the Dallas Cowboys, and his work across television, radio, podcasts, and live sports coverage.

Who Is Kyle Youmans?

Many Ravens fans may be hearing Youmans’ name for the first time, but his résumé is impressive.

Before arriving in Baltimore, Youmans spent seven seasons with the Dallas Cowboys organization, where he became one of the franchise’s most recognizable media personalities. His responsibilities included hosting shows, producing content, interviewing players and coaches, covering the NFL Draft, and calling games.

During his time with the Cowboys, Youmans appeared across multiple media platforms and helped lead coverage of one of the NFL’s most visible organizations.

Beyond Dallas, Youmans has called football, basketball, baseball, and other sporting events while working with ESPN, Fox Sports, Compass Media Networks, Conference USA, and the Big 12 Conference. His versatility and experience made him one of the most respected young broadcasters in football media.

Following Gerry Sandusky

Replacing Gerry Sandusky may be one of the most difficult jobs in Baltimore sports media.

Sandusky served as the radio voice of the Ravens for 20 seasons and became synonymous with the franchise. His calls accompanied playoff runs, division championships, Hall of Fame careers, and the emergence of Lamar Jackson as one of the NFL’s biggest stars.

When fans think of Ravens radio, they think of Sandusky.

The organization clearly believes Youmans has the talent and preparation necessary to carry that tradition forward while establishing his own identity behind the microphone.

What Ravens Fans Can Expect

One characteristic that stands out when listening to Youmans’ previous broadcasts is energy.

His play-by-play style combines enthusiasm, preparation, and a strong understanding of the game. He brings excitement to big moments while also providing the context and detail that radio listeners expect.

That balance is critical for NFL broadcasts, where the announcer serves as the eyes of the audience.

The Ravens are entering the 2026 season with Super Bowl expectations. Lamar Jackson remains one of the league’s premier quarterbacks, Derrick Henry continues to anchor the running game, and Baltimore once again features one of the deepest rosters in football.

Every touchdown, interception, game-winning drive, and playoff moment will now be called by a new voice.

Why This Hire Matters

Play-by-play announcers become part of a franchise’s history.

Fans remember where they were when iconic moments happened, but they also remember the voices attached to those moments. Great broadcasters become woven into the identity of a team and its fan base.

The Ravens did not simply hire an announcer.

They hired the storyteller who will narrate the next generation of Ravens football.

MSB Analysis

This feels like a strong move by the Ravens organization.

Rather than attempting to find someone who sounds like Gerry Sandusky, Baltimore chose a broadcaster with a proven track record, NFL experience, and the potential to grow into the role for many years. Youmans has worked in one of the NFL’s largest media markets and has demonstrated an ability to connect with fans through multiple platforms.

No one will replace Sandusky’s legacy.

But the Ravens were not searching for another Gerry Sandusky.

They were searching for the next great voice of Ravens football.

Kyle Youmans now gets that opportunity.

Beginning this fall, Ravens fans will hear a new voice echoing throughout M&T Bank Stadium as another chapter in franchise history begins.
