Nick Vespi to pitch for Italy in the World Baseball Classic
Baltimore Orioles reliever Nick Vespi will pitch for Italy in the World Baseball Classic, he announced yesterday. Vespi was up and down between the Orioles and AAA Norfolk Tides last season as a rookie.
Vespi’s numbers were solid with a five win and zero loss record and a 4.10 era in 25 games for the Orioles. For the Tides, Vespi’s numbers were even more impressive where he completed the season without giving up an earned run in 26 games.
Vespi was drafted in the 18th round of the 2015th draft by the Orioles and is a lefty with good command.
I think the World Baseball Classic will be a good experience for Vespi who will battle for a roster spot for the Orioles.
