MSB Staff Predictions: WrestleMania 2019

The road to WrestleMania is always one of the best parts of wrestling, but this year was much more.  With Kofi’s struggle to get his title match against Daniel Bryan and Becky’s push to get back into her title match against the baddest woman on the planet, Ronda Rousey, this year’s buildup to WrestleMania has been the best in a while.  With 12 matches on the main card and 3 on the kickoff show, this could be the best WrestleMania in years.  The team at MSB Fight Club has been discussing this event for a while and we have our predictions for the matches.

Cruiserweight Championship: Buddy Murphy (c) vs. Tony Nese

After teaming up with Wesley Blake on NXT, Murphy has found himself a nice home on 205 Live.  Defeating Cedric Alexander at the Super Showdown in November, Murphy has defended and retained the title numerous times, creating a name for himself and sustaining a successful title reign.

Prediction:

Mike- Buddy Murphy

Chris- Buddy Murphy

Damon- Buddy Murphy

Tom- Buddy Murphy

After almost being left off the card for forfeiting to the New Day which allowed Kofi to go to WrestleMania, Alexa Bliss appeared on SmackDown last night to tell the Usos they would be entering a fatal four-way match to defend their titles.

Prediction:

Mike- Shinsuke Nakamura and Rusev

Chris- Ricochet and Aleister Black

Damon- Ricochet and Aleister Black

Women’s Tag Team Championship: Sasha Banks and Bayley (c) vs. Beth Phoenix and Natalya vs. Nia Jax and Tamina Snuka vs. The IIconics

After becoming the first tag team champs at Elimination Chamber, the Boss and Hug Connection look to defend their titles again.  After teaming up with Beth Phoenix and Natalya on Monday Night Raw, tensions have started to rise between Phoenix, Banks, Bayley, and Natalya.

Prediction:

Mike- The IIconics

Chris- Sasha Banks and Bayley

Damon- Sasha Banks and Bayley

Tom- Nia Jax and Tamina Snuka

United States Championship: Samoa Joe (c) vs. Rey Mysterio

This is Samoa Joe’s first ever WrestleMania match and it’s Rey’s first in years.  Mysterio announced on SmackDown a few weeks ago he would be facing Joe for the title.  However, Mysterio sustained an ankle injury in a match against Baron Corbin on Monday Night Raw.  This could be Joe’s key to retaining the title.

Prediction:

Mike- Rey Mysterio

Chris- Samoa Joe

Damon- Samoa Joe

Tom- Samoa Joe

Intercontinental Championship: Bobby Lashley (c) vs. The Demon

The Demon is back!!!  On Monday night, Finn Balor responded to Bobby Lashley saying he had demons of the own and transforming into the Demon slowly after.  Balor took the title from Lashley before Lashley took it back.

Roman Reigns vs. Drew McIntyre

Following a triumphant return to the ring after a battle with leukemia, Roman Reigns looks to defeat The Scottish Psychopath, Drew McIntyre in his first singles match back.  Drew McIntyre has been taking personal jabs at Reigns these past few weeks and brutally attacked him Monday night.  The Big Dog needs to step up if he wants a chance at beating McIntyre.

Prediction:

Mike- Drew McIntyre

Chris- Drew McIntyre

Damon- Roman Reigns

Tom- Drew McIntyre

AJ Styles vs. Randy Orton

This feud has been building up for months, and ultimately reaching its peak last night.  After numerous attacks and Orton ruining the match between Styles and Kurt Angle, the two sat down on the KO show last night and it got heated.  AJ called out Orton for his numerous failed drug tests and how he had help from his father and other WWE legends.  Orton fired back telling styles that since John Cena left, he has become the “corporate bitch”.  This led to a fight between the two and Styles going for the Phenomenal Forearm, but Orton caught him with an RKO, leaving Styles knocked out cold.  This is probably going to be one of the best matches on the entire card.

Prediction:

Mike- Randy Orton

Chris- AJ Styles

Damon- AJ Styles

Tom- AJ Styles

Triple H vs. Batista: (No Holds Barred)

Following a vicious attack on Ric Flair on Monday Night Raw, Batista followed up by challenging Triple H to a No Holds Barred match.  Batista also told Triple H to put his career on the line, meaning if he loses, Triple H can never compete in the ring again.  Triple H has never beaten Batista in a singles match, this should be a good one.

Prediction:

Mike- Triple H

Chris- Triple H

Damon- Triple H

Tom- Triple H

Kurt Angle vs. Baron Corbin: (Farewell Match)

After 20 years, Kurt Angle has announced his final match will be at WrestleMania 35.  Due to his impact and contributions, the McMahons allowed Angle to choose his final opponent.  He decided to pick the man who took his job as Raw General Manager, Baron Corbin.  This feud has been building up for a while, but most people don’t think Corbin is worthy enough to be Angle’s final opponent.  Angle came out at the end of Raw on Monday and injured Corbin’s ankle, this could play a crucial role in how the match will go.

Prediction:

Mike- Kurt Angle

Chris- Kurt Angle

Damon- Kurt Angle

Tom- Kurt Angle beats John Cena (Corbin can’t go)

WWE Championship: Daniel Bryan (c) vs. Kofi Kingston

Kofi has probably had the toughest time getting to the title match at WrestleMania.  His performance at Elimination Chamber won the hearts of many fans who were ready to see Kofi become champ.  After being replaced by Kevin Owens at Fastlane, Kofi entered a gauntlet on SmackDown live in which he beat the 5 opponents until Mr. McMahon told him there was a 6th, Daniel Bryan.  Bryan beat Kofi and he thought his dreams of going to WrestleMania were crushed.  Last week, Big E and Xavier Woods entered a gauntlet in which they won and Kofi earned his spot in the title match.

Prediction:

Mike- Kofi Kingston

Chris- Kofi Kingston

Damon- Daniel Bryan

Tom- Kofi Kingston

Universal Championship: Brock Lesnar (c) vs. Seth Rollins

Following his victory at the Royal Rumble, Seth chose his opponent for WrestleMania and he picked the Beast.  However, Rollins faced injury the past few weeks.  The two met on Monday night and Seth attacked Lesnar and left him with a low blow before raising the title over his head as if he had slayed the Beast.  This match could go either way, but it will be good regardless of the outcome.

Chris- Seth Rollins

Damon- Brock Lesnar

Tom- Seth Rollins

Women’s Championship Winner Take All: Ronda Rousey (c) vs. Charlotte Flair (c) vs. Becky Lynch

Prediction:

Mike- Becky Lynch

Chris- Becky Lynch

Damon- Becky Lynch

Tom- Charlotte Flair
